Boxes Inspire Festival Design

My boxes instalation became my inperation for the gateways at gottwood festival. Taking the simple form of the boxes and how they can become the perfect building material, reliable in strengh.

Boxes Also become housing for the 'GOTTWOOD' Fesival 'Hollywood' style entrance sign. The sign also taking insperation from the idea of framing each letter and then staggering them through out the woodland entrance. Creating an interactive feel for the public when they enter the festival.

UNSOUND / / Part one.

Unsound is a culmination of all my experiments and mini projects throughout 2010/2011. It is in effect a 12ft x 8ft raised floor that when performed or stood on creates a soundscape or atmosphere for the environment. contact microphones pick up reverberations then the frequencies get amplified and delayed. The piece was designed to be a "pop up" piece being build in a around 2 hours, then having a 30 - 60 minuet installation / performance then immediately taken down. This was to heighten its fleeting existence. Hopefully making it slightly more magical for the audience.

Mini Interactive Installation Part One

Im currently looking into how an environment can become a product of an audiences or general publics presents. Having the audience enter a space and then to cause a reaction via the piece / installation. I have been experimenting into how to document this.

Glass Ceiling ?

This image is gave me a really nice idea to make a dangling ceiling from glass that people could walk under and if disturbed would create really beautiful acoustic noises. If the glasses were swapped with bottles they could contain liquids at different levels so the notes were different across the ceiling. This video has given me so much inspiration. I really would love to play with this idea at some point.

Homemade Instruments Part One

This is my first experiment with making a homemade instrument. I found an old CD rack and started to play around with using guitar string, threading it through holes in the rack. Some videos will be up as soon as its tuned and working. The first experiments have been useful. Understanding the noises that can be made through tapping the box or using the strings. The Piezo Transducer Im using for the pick up really gives it a low-fi feel but still sounds really quite acoustic. A  Piezo Transducer is effectively just a buzzer wired backward and costs no more that £1.20 each.  This stepping stone will allow me to play more with the low end technology Im using to see how far i can push it. My next step is to start experimenting with glasses. hanging them close to each other and amplify the noises made.
